Clinical Psychology (PsyD) accreditation

The APA Commission on Accreditation has granted the NAU Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program initial “Accreditation, on contingency” through February 25, 2027. This status recognizes the program’s demonstrated quality and its capacity to meet all accreditation standards within the required timeframe.

Our program strives to give students hands-on experience in supervised clinical settings, provide students with a curriculum based on a developmental, experiential training model that includes understanding theory, assessment, intervention, and evaluation skills. We prepare students to work with individuals, families, groups, schools, organizations, and agencies as well as offer courses delivered through a combination of in-person and supervised practice.

The practitioner-scholar training approach promotes the optimal development of individuals, families, groups, and environmental systems using empirically supported, culturally sensitive interventions that include assessment and diagnosis, interdisciplinary teamwork, prevention, consultation, outcome evaluation, and ethical decision-making, in a broad array of settings including schools, universities, integrated healthcare, hospitals/medical centers, community mental health, correctional facilities, and independent practice.
