Where justice meets action

Social work is for those ready to turn compassion into action. At NAU's School of Social Work, you’ll develop the skills to guide individuals, families, and communities through life’s hardest challenges, while joining a community united by empathy and the drive to transform lives.

Skills with real impact

Our Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, both accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, are built for passionate learners ready to take action.

With small classes, flexible pathways (attend online, in Flagstaff, or at NAU–Yuma), and a focus on real-world impact, you’ll gain the skills needed to be the professional your community needs. Every course, every internship, and interaction is shaped by a commitment to justice, care, and community connection.

Building your foundation

Meaningful growth starts with meaningful support. From field placements and mentoring to license prep and emergency aid, we'll help you stay grounded, connected, and confident throughout your journey. With over 500 active field placement partners and specialized programs like Title IV-E child welfare training, we help students turn their passion into real-world impact.

From day one, I made connections and relationships that have led me to opportunities that have helped get me to where I am now. I am proud to say that I am now the acting mayor of the City of South Tucson, with my NAU grad cap here in my office!
